(21,674 posts)I'd gently place the kitty in his/her own bed, and then escort the dog to his.
Of course though, if I can't keep an eye on them within 10 or 20 minutes things would probably be back to how they were in the first place - rather like state intervention.
Happy New Year, btw.

(56,829 posts)We gave them a big doggy bed for their bigger dog that is like 60-70 pounds. I think the bed is for dogs up to 75 or so pounds, or maybe even more. However, the little poodle that is about 10 pounds has claimed big dog bed and the bigger dog sleeps next to it.
Both dogs are female, but the bigger one is about 18 months old, while the small dog is 5-6 years old

(129,543 posts)(kitteh will be 7 this year and pup just turned 3). Needless to say they don't get along very well and have stare-down contests but he will drink out of her water cup and she will deposit herself on his bed.

(206,115 posts)Fortunately, he really loves my dog - and my dog is used to both cats and dogs, was fostered at an animal emergency clinic - but there are times that my rambunctious cat, who is pretty big now, can get on his last nerve.
