(2,573 posts)Did that squirrel cower when she knew she was spotted?
Nope, she went on the offensive, ninja bounces and a lunge.
She made it out alive!

(652 posts)I came home from work about 40 years ago, and found my entire kitchen ransacked -- it looked like a tornado had taken place.
I quickly left the premises and called the police, thinking a burglar had been there (or was still there).
Two officers, guns drawn, went into my house while I waited outside.
It was a squirrel. They got it out without hurting it.
Once in awhile I read a story about a bear getting into someone's home. Imagine the difference between what a bear can do and a squirrel can do!

(14,537 posts)I wish I'd have known. I had one in my dining room snacking on my plantation blinds about 4 months ago. It took me all of 2 minutes to get him/her out. Grab a blanket, open the outside doors and guide the toward it. Now lizards, they are a pain in the ass to get out.
When my son was younger he bought in a bucket of wood. He started to dump it on the floor and before I could say Noooooo!!!!!!! 6 baby lizards went scurrying. Or at least I hoped it was 6 because that is all we found. I can remember think I was glad they weren't snakes.

(2,573 posts)and not dexterous enough to escort that ninja like squirrel out?
Or maybe on crutches, so doesn't have use of both hands, doesn't have the balance?

(14,537 posts)No, the blanket is the key. Hold it up in front of you. If they lunge at you toss it over them. If not use it to guide them out an open door.
They did show the couple laughing in the background for a few seconds, they seemed to be moving just fine.

(14,537 posts)I have a wood stove and that is how it came in. The same method works for birds only they are harder to get out. I have done it by myself but it is easier with 2 more people. We put a grill or something over the pipe so birds can't come in but apparently squirrels can.

(47,226 posts)I would not really known what to do, but calling the police seems drastic.
