DAMN I HATE those commercials.
I get an earworm for the rest of the day.
Wonder what kind of rip-off deal the poor bastards get who bite?

(7,875 posts)They're people who are in such dire straits that they have no choice but to accept a shitty deal because they can't wait for their settlement to pay out. Ever notice how many more of these parasites there seem to be since the economy went south? Hell- if I had a few hundred grand and no conscience, seems like it would be a sweet racket to get into.

(29,414 posts)I so hate those adds. The ones with Montel Williams are no better and now I've seen two others that are equally as horrible.
However...the ITS MY MONEY AND I NEED IT NOW...is a horrible thing to say when it is not actually true and is now known by one and all.
ITS MY BRAIN AND I NEED IT NOW!

(1,314 posts)We represent plaintiffs in a Multi-District Litigation -- product liability. There is a settlement, but some plaintiffs will receive much more money than others, depending on mitigating factors. Some of the clients have signed up with these "legal funding" companies. The companies charge 215% of what they loan the person. So, say you want money now, you know you have a settlement, but you don't know how much it will be. You borrow $12,000 and you immediately owe over $24 grand. What if you're injury is on the lower end and you only receive a settlement amount of $6,000? I'd say you're pretty much screwed.
