But I've got them occupied watching videos of their nearly two year old grandkid. (I hate saying twenty-one month old.)

Dad lives with us and sees him every day. Mom has seen him maybe twice, and not since 2016. So it's all new to her.

They're getting along famously.

Tomorrow may be different, but tonight's a gift!

She was exhausted from traveling across town to see her dad and when he got frail she moved him into the upstairs room at her mom's house. He knew but the mom did not know her ex was living in the house. This was in Britain so there were pensions to allow both parents to live at home instead of nursing homes.

Anyway, seems that you raised your parents well. Happy holidays!!

if they hadn't been divorced since you were 12 just imagine how miserable it would be. my ex and i get along fine but it took years of divorce for that to happen.

If you are 56 then they are certainly a bit older. Maybe you can enjoy being around them while they are still there. Both of my parents are gone and I wish I had the opportunity to talk to them as an adult.

I know that is really easy for me to propose since I'm not there. Frankly, I'd be breaking out in hives in the same situation.

Dad lives with us, and has for the last thirty years, but Mom lives a hundred miles away, by herself, and she's happy to do so.

Thing is, she broke her foot last night and she can't be all alone in a house with a broken foot at her age.

We found out about it this morning, made the two hundred mile drive, and by the afternoon there were Mom and Dad together in the living room.

When I woke up this morning, I had a whole 'nother evening planned.

...and some movie with Annette Benning, Meg Ryan, Candace Bergen, and that chick from Will and Grace.

A good time was had by both.
