(54,770 posts)My cat was a feral kitten in Saudi Arabia, would happily lie about all day in 40C+ temps, in spite of being a long-hair.
He now lives with my MiL, in Russia, and loves lying about in -30C temps. In winter he grows a big fluff-bag coat like the cats in the pics, much thicker than when he was in Saudi.
Cats adapt well.

(1,005 posts)a Norwegian Forest and a Maine Coon kitty, I do believe they may be related in some way. All three of them looked and acted so similar, to the point that we called them cousins.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,806 posts)All of these breeds are what's called a "landrace," which is a naturally-occurring breed (in other words, they bred their "type" themselves), at least until people got involved and started deliberately breeding them. The Maine Coon is believed to be descended in part from Norwegian Forest cats who came to North America with the Vikings.
