Our kid is doing more and more computer-based work making it a good time to get him off the home PC and onto a Chromebook (which probably suits his needs more than a standard laptop. Does anyone have a recommendation?

(43,049 posts)I know we're supposed to hate Walmart, but wtf-- I paid a little over hundred for this thing when I saw a couple of months ago, it and runs pretty much everything in the Google store. I use it every day.
Chrome comes with it, and I loaded Opera as my primary browser. It has an e-book reader, Office clone, and pretty much everything you need, with pretty good battery life.
The detachable keyboard is convenient.

(23,738 posts)Works great and the battery lasts all day. I use it when I go to conferences, since the battery lasts so long, and it's fairly light.
