I adore sage dressing. My mother had a rule: one cannot put too much sage in it. It always came out absolutely delicious, with that zowie sage zip. And always made from scratch.

A fried egg on top would be perfect. And yes, the yolk has to be runny. The problem was that we always had a huge crowd for Thanksgiving and no matter how much dressing was made -- believe me, it was a whole lot -- it evaporated quickly. Likewise, the rutabaga, which was my father's speciality.

Now you have me wishing that my parents were still alive, yet again.

Nonetheless, Thank you. Such memories are always precious. I can still smell that sage to this day.
