(32,748 posts)You need a special funnel for making one cup at a time, like this:
They cost about $5 or $6 and you can find them at a grocery store. You need the small cone-shape paper filters (also from the grocery stor) that fit the one cup funnel. Open up the K-cup and pour into the bottom of the cone filter. Place over coffee mug as shown in this photo.
Nuke a cup of water 8 to 10 ounces to almost boiling ( usually 2 minutes is enough). Pour *very slowly* into the filter and allow the brewed coffe to drip into the mug below. The coffee will be weak because it drips through the filter too fast. If you can slow down the drip, you can get a stronger flavor.
The trick is to partially block the bottom hole so the water drips slower and has a longer brewing time. I tried to do this (with so-so results) by clipping coffee straw into 2 inch lengths and forcing maybe 3 or 4 of them into the hole from underneath. They have to be flush with the inside of the funnel but they can hang below the bottom hole. Or you can also open up a 2nd K-cup and use twice as much coffee, and it will definitely taste stronger than a single K-cup.
My recommendation, if you're going to all this trouble you're better off using regular coffee grounds. The K-cups won't give you a great cup of coffee without the Keurig coffee maker.
