Mr. Bear is a tech guy. He loves automating things. Heck, I enjoy having lights we can turn on and off from anywhere by cell phone. I love the WiFi, and being able to ask Alexa all kinds of questions and play music and radio from everywhere. I feel more secure with the doorbell camera, even if the motion detector does make a sound that sounds like a hoard of fairies periodically deliver mail and packages.
Mr. Bear also travels a lot. He had to catch a plane last night for Silicon Valley, and left in a flurry after an event we couldnt skip.
He forgot his cell phone.
Of course we depend on that instant access, even to the extent that I have no idea where hes staying or how to get in touch. Thats okay; Im a big girl and its only three days.
But its storming like a BOSS here in the PNW, typical fall windstorms, big on limbs and trees and between two and four this morning the power went off and on four times. Four times I was waked up by the radio going off, Alexa apologizing for not being able to find the internet, the automatic lights coming on, the self cleaning catbox cycling and the fairies arriving. I didnt know whether to get up every time or pull the pillow over my head and ignore it as best I could. I chose the latter but Im cranky.
Now, next evening, the power is really out. Im betting I wont see anything come on until I go to bed and Alexa suddenly apologizes and the fairies arrive. For now Im sitting in the car listening to Lawrence ODonnell and charging my cell phone, and bitching about some serious First World problems to all yall.
Cheers!
