Wrap yourself in a blanket.
Put on warmer clothes.

(4,483 posts)if you put your mind to it, you *can* cultivate meaningful relationships with other people. There are probably multiple reasons, mostly relating to your childhood experiences, for coldness, and I'm not sure the "why" is all that important. I think a good therapist would be a fine first step.

(13,618 posts)Their long underwear. Plus some of their wool socks. With sweats over those, I save enough on my heat bill to pay for about anything else I want from them. That's my usual hanging out and watching football attire. Impossible to be chilly in that.

(21,646 posts)me in cooler places . I am a wool fan but others swear by tech fabrics
If necessary I will use two back heat wraps so my whole front and back middle is covered and warmed . If this area of my body (and if outside the top of my head also) is being heated I am acceptably warmed even in unheated areas. Here is a link this helps me so maybe this will work for you also. Cold sucks. I can stand heat and even humidity heat but really do not like the cold but here I am in a cold weather climate so i have to create my own personal body environment !

(7,911 posts)I got sick of being miserable every winter so last winter I put on a flannel shirt over a heavy sweatshirt and went outside to do some yard work for an hour or two. I got to where I could spend many hours a day in the cold, and each time I was a little more comfortable with it. Now I can go out in the winter and feel the cold, but not suffer from feeling cold. And best of all, when I come back inside and walk into the 72-degree house I feel roasty-toasty warm.
I'm 72, and a few years back resigned myself to the "fact" that as I got older I was just not going to feel as warm as I did when I was younger. But it turns out, I was wrong. The more I do, the more I can do. The longer and farther I walk, the longer and farther I can walk. The more time I spend in the "real" cold, the more I can tolerate the slightly cold, and feel very comfortable with "room temperature".
It's never to late to retrain your body.

(17,455 posts)Wise words.
Age 59 here.
I too have the philosophy that the older you get, the more you need to stress your body in order to maintain the status quo.
If I'm cold, I make myself colder. If I'm tired, I push even harder. I like to put myself in stress positions while working (ie: maintaining an uncomfortable squat, etc.).
This time of year is a transition as far as body temperature goes. In a few weeks, it will all be back to normal.

(2,559 posts)Normally in this area I don't turn on the furnace until Thanksgiving.
This year I caved and switched it on at the end of October.
I'm not gonna apologize.
But I do know that as winter wears on, I'll turning the set temp down, because:
1) I got used to the colder temps
2) I started dressing warmer
3) The gas bills started to stress me out
