(26,268 posts)A well stacked Ruben, and on the simpler side, a 'Ploughman's Lunch' sandwich - good sharp cheddar cheese and Branson's Pickle Relish on a crusty baguette. I think I love that one because it evokes so many great memories of picnic lunches in various parks in London.

and the bacon extra crisp, snappy crisp. The tomatoes so juicy you have wear a tarp.

(3,433 posts)salami, capicola, mortadellaa, peperoni, ham, provolone, iceberg lettuce, onion, olive oil, and pepperoncini. Some like tomato and vinegar as well but I skip those.
I also like a good pastrami with mustard in rye or white as well.

(24,931 posts)I love so many sandwiches.
Here are my faves:
- Good Italian sub with oil and vinegar on a crusty ciabatta
- Hot corned beef or pastrami (or both!) with good mustard
- Bacon butty with brown sauce

(15,805 posts)Fried corn tortillas loaded with seasoned meat and refried beans, shredded lettuce, some hot pico de gallo salsa, guacamole, and a dollop of sour cream. Tacos are so versatile, just change the meats from ground beef to thinly sliced steak, or use chicken, pork or chorizo, and fried fish, lobster, shrimp or crab is delicious. Or go veggie with sprouts, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. I like to set out all the fillings in a DIY Taco Bar. I can eat tacos everyday!

(15,805 posts)For years, I turned up my nose at the very idea a fish taco, nope, not gonna eat that yuppy, fake taco. Now, I could kick myself for all those wasted years when I was such a taco purist that I wouldn't eat a seafood taco, especially here in So Calif where fresh fish is available everywhere. I make Cilantro Lime Shrimp Tacos all the time, but I confess I've never thought about popcorn shrimp.

(36,269 posts)sliced turkey, cole slaw, and, um ... was it Thousand Island ? Can't remember now. It's been a while.
That was in my pre-vegetarian life.
Loved the veggie burgers at Vegetarian Gourmet in Pittsburgh, but it didn't last.
Now I'm partial to felafel pitas with extra tahini. Loved Salim's version, and their cheeze / spinach pies.

(10,129 posts)There are just too many variations. Dare I say a sandwich is the perfect food?
Anything BBQ or with horseradish typically is my weak spot. There are quite a few Roast Beef places in NY I used to visit when traveling for work. Specifically one in Buffalo that was pretty good. If I had the chance Id usually get one, so that probably means Ive had 20-ish. Schwabls West Seneca. On a weck, rare and with Horseradish.
Again, excellent topic, I needed a break from politics...thx!
