Occasionally we would all have dinner together. The best was at that partner's house. Korean food is wonderful. The homemade Kim chi was terrific. And ZOWEE! Was it hot! We'd gobble it all up. No leftovers.

Yummy to the tummy!!!

You have great taste in restaurants, yui!

We finally got to the restaurant Soot Bull Jeep in Los Angeles that was a scene in one of Giada's Food Network shows about Korean BBQ. The chef she was with is really making a name for himself (I don't think he's one of the Soot Bull Jeep owners, just part of the episode -- his name is Roy Choi).

I see that GEN Korean BBQ restaurant chain popping up all over now. When we go by one, there is often a line out the door. Very popular. I love Korean BBQ.

One of my fond memories of working in downtown SF was the multitude of small ethnic eateries.

I worked at Golden Gate Cycles in service & then parts. I had a friend in sales who was very local-Asian-and spoke a lot of the dialects.
He delighted in finding authentic food transplanted there. I went along often and I was Ok with anything not served alive.

I'm lucky to get a decent Chinese takeout nowadays.....

Enjoy & savor.

Oh-just remembered a funny true happened. At a small restaurant they had small bowl of seeds to use as seasoning. I ntoiced some hemp or pot seeds in the mix. I asked the waitress what kind of seeds they were-as a joke. Totally deadpan she said in broken english. Oh those are very special seeds-from Humbolt! (N. California where the good stuff was grown back then).
