Egypt: More than 70 killed in football violence
Shoddy journalism here. This is obviously not just about football, although there has been a lot of voilence in the past. The new (old) military government has been deliberately not policiing football matches so that fans may create mayhem and riot. This to show the people that they are needed to keep the peace and thus power.
The regime obviously has no problem potentially sacrificing the lives fans or players to achieve this.
