This is not just a Woman's issue. Everyone here at DU has a Woman in their life. Whether it is their Mother, their Sister, Daughter, Wife or friend, their is a woman in all our lives. The statistics that flash on the screen during the Video, are Heartbreaking. One need not have been a Victim of abuse to feel strongly about it. Physical abuse is sickening, that combined with Verbal abuse is debilitating, trust me on this.

My point of this OP is pretty self explanatory, however it goes beyond that. I watch everyday here and see posts of toons and appreciation threads move to the top of the Greatest daily. This is not meant to be an admonishment, I am however asking everyone to put this issue front and forward. Please don't let it sink to the bottom. For example this thread has been here since yesterday, The poster, Gateley asked that we sign a petition on VAWA, to send to Congress! It was posted yesterday at noon. The last I checked it only has 8 RECS!

Went back, rec'd and sign petition. I was married to an abusive man, took me a while but got out alive. Have signed several petitions for the VAWA act. The fact that it hasn't sailed thru congress shows how far we have regressed. And your post is not an admonishment, it's an alert.
