Until very recently, the Mercados were kept off of the tourist track.

These aren't just Wal-Marts, per se, but huge Super Mercados. Everything from RadioShack knockoffs to Sunset Hut-like bodegas tho ToysRUs- looking stores, etc.

And everything is crap, rejects. Due to the lack of consumer protection laws, WM doesn't give a damn if the front wheel comes off your kid's three-wheeler and throws him/her under a moving car.

The back roads (where the Mexicans live) are littered with this crap.

And the stores are jammed, 24 hours a day.

...who had knowledge of the bribery of foreign officials in Mexico should be indicted, arrested and charged with violations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
