the tears coming from his eyes are more powerful than his words..........A visibly emotional President Obama offered his condolences to the victims and families of an elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn. at the White House on Friday.
"Weve endured too many of these tragedies these past few years," Obama said, appearing to wipe away tears from his eyes.
"We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action regardless of the politics," he added.

(53,661 posts)Yup, just checked. 'Enemies of Second Amendment Will Exploit Connecticut Shooting.' So predictable, since they are John Bircher Society (Koch) followers. No, I won't post the link.
This country is sick with its focus on dead things and not living beings. Not that faux 'pro-life' mantra the right tries to sanctify the rest of their anti-human agenda with to the public.
We need to focus on living and letting live. Eveyone will, as Obama said, be holding their children a bit closer tonight. If only people would focus on the blessing they have, this would be a saner world.

(9,897 posts)The president was unafraid to be seen feeling what we all feel today and I salute him for it.
I remember the pride I felt both times going to my voting place and filling the circle next to his name, and I feel it now seeing him represent my own feelings. He is an eloquent speaker, a kind father, and the kind of person I want to see leading our country.

(39 posts)I'm glad to have him as my president.
I know what ever action he ends up pushing on this will have a proper mix of logic that he's known for, and the emotion of a loving father. Somehow I think security around his girls went up a notch or two.

(14,807 posts)I have long been sick of this protect your freedoms crap. These children and people have totally lost any ability to experience "freedom".
Yes, the "freedom" to be murdered in a movie, a shopping mall or a kindergarten.

(970 posts)I can't imagine W (or God forbid, RMoney) shedding a tear in public over this tragedy. I truly hope something positive comes from this horrible event, but not getting my hopes up. Randi said on her show yesterday that these pigs in Congress took no action on guns after one of their one, Gabby Giffords, was shot, so don't expect anything from the majority of these bough-and-paid-for pieces of human garbage.
