'Right to Work' Law Kill Unions in Michigan

"Over the chants of thousands of angry protesters, Republican lawmakers made Michigan a right-to-work state on Tuesday, dealing a devastating and once-unthinkable defeat to organized labor in a place that has been a bastion of the movement for generations.

The GOP-dominated House ignored Democrats' pleas to delay the final passage and instead approved two bills with the same ruthless efficiency that the Senate showed last week. One measure dealt with private-sector workers, the other with government employees. Republican Gov. Rick Snyder signed them both within hours, calling them "pro-worker and pro-Michigan."*

The "Right to Work" bill is not as helpful to workers as it sounds; it, and the people behind it, will kill unions in Michigan. People thought Governor Rick Snyder would help workers, but he and a group of wealthy supporters including David Koch, Paul Singer, and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce were against that cause all the way. I suppose we'll know how the voters really feel when the repukes are voted out of office in 2014.

They messed with the wrong people but it'll take two years for them to be defeated.
