Brubeck would have been 92 if he'd lived until tomorrow.

The man had a great run, though.

NOW i can see what an influence he was on MY playing. THIS SOLO- the repeated, altered themes, the hanging on to a note that's slightly dissonant- yet in key- and riffing off it... wow!

I hated Paul Desmond's tone as a kid... writing it off as too smooth and mellow. I preferred a sax that screamed. Now i get it... this solo actually made me weep with joy.

Thank you, tridim!

to be born in to a family that played and loved jazz. I heard Brubeck from the time I was old enough to hear. See you in the next world amigo! Peace

to see Mr. Brubeck and his sons several years ago at Coe College in Cedar Rapids Ia. It was a fantastic show and everyone was so pleased and appreciative.

Rest in peace Mr. Brubeck and thank you for everything.

I was around to hear Take Five when you first recorded the song. It has always been a favorite of mine. Thanks to those who posted the music for all to hear.

NOTE: it's also PERFECT that he left the plane ONE DAY short of 92 years.

He couldn't have "planned it" better!
