2. Ugly, but smart

It's one part pathetically cynical on Romney's part and another part kinda brilliant. You can't campaign during a time of national crisis, but then you can't not campaign cuz you need every second to try to eek out a victory (which probably won't happen anyway). Easy answer, pretend you give a $#%& about other people and work to "aid" them so you stay in the spotlight.

3. What a slimeball!

That $5,000 could've been used for real relief (i.e. donated to the redcross). Hopefully, at the very least, all that food was given to those who need it most.
