I'm working phone banks in a community that is largely Republican in terms of local residents, but home to one of our larger universities. Newly registering first time college voters have been a priority, regardless of the affiliation they chose. I've been calling first time college voters to ensure they're going to vote, regardless of how they'll be voting. Overwhelmingly they're supporting President Obama or still undecided. Any support of Romney is nearly nil. Adult voters that I've previously called were largely undecided if not supporting Obama. No one was enthusiastic about Romney. I'm really having a hard time understanding this close, "neck and neck" thing.

Lawrence, why are you and other knowledgeable Progressives not railing against our anachronistic Electoral College? If there was no outcry to change it after the 2000 election, it seems it will never happen. Why should the U.S. president be our only elected official not determined by popular vote?
