Senator Whitehouse Questions FBI Dir. Christopher Wray About Congress's Unanswered Questions

Last edited Tue Mar 2, 2021, 08:22 PM - Edit history (2)

Wray: "Let me be clear with you... there's no question in my mind... I will commit to you that I will do what I can... obviously we need to get better... "

Whitehouse: "That is your executive branch rigamarole. That is not a legitimate answer to a legislator's question... the courts have said we should hold up appropriations for the FBI ... when there's a political interest in getting info out to the committee, suddenly none of that rigamarole pertains, suddenly everybody gets their hands on all the information they need just as soon as they need it, and by the way I believe on a partisan basis, not shared with both sides of the committee.

We've got to get through the problem of why you're not answering our questions.

You run an organization that seems to have operated by very different rules, and it was you running that organization...

He can have an Inspector General get the unanswered questions answered, find out who sat on those questions for whoever could have answered them. It might take some rooting out of partisan biased agents and leadership.

Getting rid of Wray would only be the tip of the iceberg of secrecy.

He reminds me of a cross between Gregory Peck (especially when he wears his reading glasses) and Walther Matthau.

Congress was stonewalled throughout Orange Man's reign by all agencies, intentionally. Should have been impeached for that too. USPS still doing it and agencies with embedded supporters will undermine all Biden wants to accomplish.

in preserving a double standard of internal practices that favor Republican leaders. Wray's background as a wealthy elite shows in his leadership that does not rigorously demand action in living up to FBI personnel's oaths to protect and defend the US Constitution.

Some transparency is not enough.

The FBI's got to get operationally restructured to meet counterintelligence demands.
Wray won't be the one to lead that.
