Beck admits he doesn’t give ‘a flying crap about the political process... We’re an entertainment company.’

By Zaid Jilani on Apr 8, 2010 at 9:50 am

Fox News host Glenn Beck’s media “empire” is the cover story of the newest issue of Forbes Magazine. In the story, Beck reveals that his media company Glenn Beck Inc. made $32 million in revenue in the period between March 2009 and March 2010. The host also explains that he sees himself much more as an entertainer than a political activist, saying that he doesn’t “give a flying crap about the political process”:

With a deadpan, Beck insists that he is not political: “I could give a flying crap about the political process.” Making money, on the other hand, is to be taken very seriously, and controversy is its own coinage. “We’re an entertainment company,” Beck says.

“I don’t necessarily believe that [what Beck says] is reflective of his own personal politics — I don’t even know if he has personal politics,” Michael Harrison, the publisher of Talkers magazine tells Forbes. “I see him as a performer.” This isn’t the first time Beck has suggested he isn’t as radically conservative as he seems. In February he told USA Weekend that “you’d have to be an idiot” to “not notice the temperature change” caused by global warming, and that he thinks mankind may play a signficant role in the phenomenon. Beck has previously described himself as “a rodeo clown” and conceded, “If you take what I say as gospel, you’re an idiot.”

Emboldening in article is mine. This is what should be stressed to the faithful who bought the performance as something meaningful.

He's a very successful propagandist, always puts in a word to rebutt any facts that argue against what he's selling in each brainwashing session. He warns them in advance so they won't believe those lies from the other side, which disprove his convoluted rants.

He knows exactly what he is doing and is making a few million a week for doing it. No kidding. But the fire sale of the USA by the conservatives is worth his salary and that of Limbaugh, etc. Those men influence the vote. And we we have people saying voting isn't valuable?

Follow the money always, the return per lobbying dollar is estimated to be 1,000%. Our vote, or our refusal to vote, enables them to do this.

exactly what i thought as i was watching the make-up session.
who is his audience? are they evangelicals?
who considers a blubbering, slobbering, crybaby an authority?
he is not only apolitical but also amoral. the sort of man who would have been run out of town in the good old days he invokes.

Our family was not at all right wing, not into all of this stuff. The older people in my family would have a stroke looking at these Goebbels. You see, they grew up in the Great Depression and got very aware of the Nazis, etc. and believed in all of the New Deal. They were union and corporate, enterpreunarial, teachers, mechanics, you name it, they did it, and all different faiths or none at all. They knew a demagogue when they saw one and were strong for civil rights, etc.

Now as to this person, she hasn't darkened the door of a church since she and her husband were married in the sixties and is not quite retirement age yet. Never talked about religion, neither did her spouse, a veteran. She supported women's choice, gay rights, and it was only after 2008 she started listening to Beck.

In the 1990's I listened to Rush to see what the heck was up. I used to watch CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN 1, CSPAN 2, PBS, FOX, Comedy, Central, etc to see what was up. I had a routine for a while, seeing several shows and Beck was one of them. He has become much worse with time, they all have. I also researched almost all the wingnut, CT stuff for a few years.

Until I couldn't go along with the alternate reality, dream/nightmare they were pushing anymore. They inspire a constant state of helplessness and fear that is only satisfied by finding an enemy to blame for all that's not right. I'll see youtube videos to get up to date, but really, I can't watch these guys or listen to them anymore.

I understand what they're aiming for, how they're doing it. But you cannot explain that to anyone who is in the matrix of these influences. She had some college, but never really achieved much in that area. Now she is obsessed with illegals, sharia law, communism or whatever fearful image is being pumped into her head daily.

We never cared about any of this in our entire lives and are not in any way effected. She and her spouse are often at home, living in a hot climate and not being in good shape, they stay inside all the time. When they're inside, they watch the television. In fact, I realized some years ago they were just plain addicted to television, organized their entire lives around it.

So maybe this has been a long time coming and I didn't see it. This is purely the result of media madness, in my opinion. I really wouldn't care, I mean, if they thorught that UFOs were hiding on the back side of the Sun or inside the Moon, who cares, really. But this is hateful to other people.

And she is on prescription drugs, but neither of them are on psychotrophic or sleep medications, AFAIK. All physical conditions. They are not healthy and this is making her BP go up.

But I was always the rebel in the family, the one who had adventures, who moved and did all kinds of things. So I saw more. Maybe this is why I didn't go the way she did. It's sad. But what's bad, and not sad, but scary, is that she votes.

Came out of her "Book of Charms, Spells and Black Magic." The Vicks treatment was way nicer than the one for stomach aches that involved wearing cloves of garlic and eating seaweed. LOL.

I am simply disgusted with Glen Beck. He made a fortune being a fake and isn't even able to feel shame. The smell of money masks the scent of pig entrails, I guess.
