From 1934 until 1952, priority number one for the GOP was to end social security.

After coming to truce with Social Security following decades in the political wilderness, the Republicans began talking about the privatization of Social Security (and now Medicare) with the Reagan reaction. They haven't stopped.

That doesn't sound like a political party seriously courting my vote.
