He's spent all week practicing zingers? The President will be on topic and Mitt will be the smart-ass he's always been.

"Lehrer previously announced there would be six 15-minute blocs to the debate, the first three on the economy, the fourth on healthcare, the fifth of 'the role of government' and the sixth on 'governing'."

We know the President has less (if any) respect for Mitt than he had for McCain. I think he'll play this like Muhammad Ali, rope a dope Romney, and lay into him at the end of the match.

I just wonder whether Obama seems the debate as Round 1, or Round 10?

6. The consensus of the GOPers (and the media)

in that clip is that Romney must have a great performance in that first debate.

How does that jive with the recent GOP narrative that the polls are biased towards Obama?

Obviously, it doesn't. Otherwise, either Obama would need a great performance or a tie would maintain a tight race. But that's not what they're saying. The GOPers didn't take exception to the media's premise that Romney needed a great performance.

There's no end to the BS from those people though their remarks today - that Romney must do very well in order to close the gap are valid. But yesterday, the polls were biased. Today, with very few new polls and none that materially changed the race, Romney is behind.
