Storage devices don't store current, which is flow. They store energy in the form of electric charge

I'm in the industry, so know that it might also be a matter of just not understanding energy.
Good book I just finished reading, "The Grid".
2016 but still a great read about the history and changes in the grid.
The OP is dead on, storage at every scale is the solution to all-renewable energy.

I just have a feeling some battery companies or the materials used for batteries is going to skyrocket sooner or later.
