(102,329 posts)selfless act was something I frequently observed among those living there. Too many have been politically bamboozled by RWers, teabaggers, and now Trump, but the basic kindness of this man and many of his contemporaries remain.
Very poignant.

(4,763 posts)This was in the 50's. Kindness was contagious. The story of the farmer from Kansas brought me to tears and I don't tear up easily.

(12,265 posts)My Dad had a heart attack while harvesting our corn one year. The next morning while my mom was at the hospital with Dad 10 combines showed up with trucks and drivers to finish our harvest. My sister and I made lunch for all of them and took it out to the fields. That is the rural life I remember.
