(54,770 posts)treatment. Its disgusting and depressing.
Pelosi was good, although this is not best format for a Speaker.
Leno was quite funny, but retirement is good for him and us.
Thanks for links.

(205,532 posts)That said, I think this was the best of his "remote" shows so far, guess he's getting used to the "remote" audiences, LOL. I especially agree with his New Rules on animal treatment, though it was upsetting to watch, here's hoping that this crisis will be a global wake up call. And I'm relieved that all the interviews were available this week.

(205,532 posts)Their "surprise," LOL. And Bill was determined to set a good example. And I agree, Jay was the funny part of the show - which we sure need desperately right now!

(205,532 posts)And for them to distribute. But if you think about it, how insane is this?? Our first responders have to depend on a wealthy comedian with a 3D printer provide the masks that they need?? And what about all the other firefighters/first responders across the country who are desperately in need of PPE right now?? I can think of 3 fire departments not far from me - I actually vote at the closest fire house - and I'm willing to bet that there are no wealthy celebrities with 3D printers in my neighborhood who are able to provide the same service.

(35,442 posts)That's the question. And that question could be answered with data, and that means more tests. Test everybody and open up based on the results.

(205,532 posts)And I'm listening to him again on the repeat right now. Previously, they said that the vulnerable were the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, but now we're hearing that it could be dangerous for those who are younger and healthy, as well. We need to learn so much more and we've wasted so much time - and still are with Trump's bullshit.

(47,487 posts)I suspect that it got press because of the novelty and unexpected. And I think that this is what he had in mind - perhaps I need to listen to him again. That yes, many will get infected and some will die but we have to build a herd immunity and this is the only way to do this. When my generation was very young, before the chickenpox vaccine, there used to be chickenpox parties to expose kids and to build immunity.

(53,791 posts)treatment of those infected too. That is so important to couple with testing, and something that trump is also incapable of understanding and emplementing.
A program such as that could put thousands of unemployed people to work immediatedly searching out people.
Why do so many people ignore that?

(63,221 posts)I was just really offended by the way he treated her for some reason. He just seemed very hostile. I really wanted to smack him. Obviously we don't have a limitless amount of money, but what is his solution? I just thought he was being a complete asshole. He is always so obsequious when it comes to his conservative guests, but I felt like he was giving her a hard time.
Sorry Rhiannon, no offense toward you, but sometimes he really pisses me off.

(205,532 posts)He may not be leaving his house, but she's as busy as ever and it boggles the mind to imagine the kind of pressure she's under, she's dealing with so much right now and handling it! So he was damn lucky that she took time out to be on his show.

(28,264 posts)Many thanks to whoever it was---even if they're playing for the other team.
Judging from what I read about last night's show (I stopped watching, a long time ago), it appears that Maher is headed non-stop over the cliff, trying to make right-wing sentiment appear humorous. Pretty tall order, considering conservative tries at humor are generally about as funny as....a world-wide pandemic. Need further proof of this? Subject yourself to a Dennis Miller routine or two.
And so, yet again, here's my plea: Walk away from Bill Maher's show. His efforts to hang on to the liberal side of his audience get more feeble with every episode. The evident handjob interview he gave Katz last night ought to be the breaking point.
Maher is one signing bonus away from a gig on Fox "News." You loyalists need to give him up.
