Noam Chomsky Is Capitalism Making Life Better.
What we know, we can master. What we don't know enslaves us.
I will be posting some Chomsky injections now and then. It may be best to stick to relevant excerpts for the sake of brevity rather than entire lectures, for now.
An interesting contrast that comes up at the end of this talk is that Hitler did manage to lift up the German economy and improve the standard of life. While we may find correlations between him and Trump, a glaring difference is that Trump is not accomplishing anything like that since he is merely riding on a previous wave of "recovery" and taking credit for it while removing barriers to profit for the financial elite.
He fails even in that respect to benefit the people or cultivate our vital and crucial commons and that's one difference between him and Hitler. Even his Fascism is a failure in that regards except for support of the Ruling Class, corporations and those who are the recipients of the "booming economy".
Platitudes and rhetoric do not improve our lives, but Fascism will certainly be a bludgeon for making this country much, much worse, IMHO. However, they do function as propaganda tools to influence the low-information voter and maintain both fealty and loyalty in order to wrest and maintain power. That's the danger.
