looks like dat naughty old Socialism is going to be getting a lot of play over the next few months
here's one of the better (albeit dry) videos i've seen summarizing the concept
the discussion of "state capitalism" begins at around 38:10.

(23,954 posts)if we're going to be talking about it on these forums anyway, it doesn't hurt to have potential reference material floating around for all us losers who enjoy wasting our time by explaining, justifying, and/or defining.
then when we talk about whether, when, and/or how the country might elect a socialist, we can point to a common reference and say "we're talking about this. specifically this."

(29,205 posts)someone is going to try to "educate" people on socialism.
by posting a near 2 hour lecture from a college professor.
Which the average voter WILL NOT watch or care about.
Again, we don't educate the voters, the voters educate us.
Failure to learn THAT one simple lesson will doom any political campaign. Not the campaign for most of us that already KNOW what socialism is and what capitalism is... no, but for those who already believe that socialism and marxism and communism are the same thing, you will not educate them in the next 8 months.

(23,954 posts)if it happened to have that effect, i'd be happy, but as you say it's highly unlikely.
rather, i'm posting so people here who wish to discuss socialism substantively have a handy reference should they choose to use one.
