I recall watching his show after the invasion of Iraq and the decimation of Saddam's army. He was interviewing 2 men, one was a secular muslim (yes, there are such things). Cavuto was talking about the Cheney/Bush illegal war against the people of Iraq and led the discussion by claiming that religious leaders supported it. For instance, he said, Pope John Paul II supports it.
He was interrupted by the secular-muslim guy who pointed out that John Paul II had, in fact, issued public statements condemning the invasion of Iraq, condemning the call to war and the deaths and destruction it had and would continue to bring. The Pope, indeed, had condemned the invasion -- and in no uncertain terms. Cavuto, realizing that he was caught in a trap of his own devise extricated himself by, first, lying bald-facedly and telling the guy he was wrong, that John Paul was a strong supporter of the war and, second, cutting to a commercial after which, mysteriously, the secular-muslim guy was no longer there!
I was stunned by his obvious disdain for the truth and the boldness of his lie. So I'm not at all surprised that he would slither away from Senator Lee's attack on the Trump administration as if Senator Lee's angry condemnation of the farce of a "briefing" had not just been shown on his show.
So, yeah, Cavuto is a dirty lying s.o.b. and has been one at least since Cheney/Bush. He might pretend to fairness on occasion, but at heart he's a censoring, genuflecting Reagan Republican (which is to say a mouthpiece for the New Republican Party above everything else, including journalistic ethics and the truth).
