Katy Tur's career. She's smarter and more charismatic than any host on MSNBC, with the exception of Rachel Maddow. She has twice the brains of Lawrence O'Donnell and Brian Williams, and at least three times the brains of Chris Matthews. She also has twice the charisma of Chris Hayes, Ari Melber, and Steve Kornacki. And, let's be honest, she has twice the brains, twice the charisma, and TEN TIMES the journalistic integrity of Chuck "Both Sides" Todd. (Don't let the door knob hit you in the ass, Chuck.)
Like a lot of things in life, she was stuck at the bottom of the list because of lack of seniority. Four years ago she was a junior reporter at MSNBC. A nobody. And it was because she was so junior that they stuck her on the Trump Campaign. Nobody expected the orange clown to win the nomination, or be anything more than comic relief; and so the more experienced reporters were scrambling to cover Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, John Kasich, and Marco "Cheapest Suit In The Store" Rubio. Katy Tur got STUCK with Trump.
But thanks to Adolf Twitler's DAILY ATTACKS on her, she rocketed to national prominence, and eventually got her own show. We can all thank Donald Trump's thin skin, and childish temperament for Katy Tur having her own show. THANKS DONNIE!

(16,791 posts)She has the smarts like Rachel, Nicole, and Joy. She asks hard questions and keeps pressing if guests hem and haw.

(34,661 posts)her fill in for Chuckie the Toad today. Apparently Toad's Producers and Director booked Ron Johnson (R) from Wisconsin. Her Facial expression was to kill for. Yes she had to struggle her way through that Talking Points shit show put on by Johnson. Me,after a few minutes, out of there,to the Music Channel.

(90,793 posts)...more than once. I read her book, "Unbelievable," which filled in a lot of the blanks -- but I was already a fan by then and look forward to following her career for a long time. Giving Katy her own show was the least MSNBC could do after what she went through while following Trump!
ETA: At one point in the midst of all his extremely public harassment, Trump approached her in some hallway and forcefully kissed her on the lips. She doesn't say whether she smelled Tic-Tacs, but she was disgusted and horrified -- not least because she hoped and prayed that no one would get the wrong idea, from the crews on up to her bosses at NBC. It could have been literally the kiss of death to her career.
