And he'll use impeachment to shore up his base. Sorry, but that's how I see it. Big mistake to drop the judiciary.

Side with Trump, alienate independents. Vote to convict, alienate Trump base. Gotcha! Either way they will struggle big time to be reelected. Trump base is, at best, 41%, and it may drift 5-8 points lower in some states.

GOP is in the frying pan and they have earned it.

For a long, long time now. It's as Robert Reich said in one of his videos way back in April 2017, I believe: We have enough evidence to impeach Donald Trump, but do we have the political will as a nation? Back then, the Trump presidency was new, and the typical American voter wanted to see what he could do as President, or at least give him the benefit of the doubt. Now, I firmly believe that the tide has turned, that the vast majority of Americans are sick and tired of his administration, as riddled as it is with corruption, scandal, incompetence and international intrigue. Sure there are risks involved with Nancy Pelosi's "baller move", but there are risks associated with every important undertaking - and Nancy has calculated those risks very well. How much evidence do you need? How much will finally be enough? For his die hard base, no amount of evidence will ever be enough. But for everyone else, this Ukraine scandal is such clear evidence for impeachment that the Dems know that the vast majority of Americans will clearly recognize the need to impeach when the evidence is finally laid out in public hearings - and Republican senators who continue to support and enable this criminal president will be, in effect, signing their political death warrants. Frankly, I've been on the impeachment train for a long, long time. Not only is it now good politics, but it also sends a crystal clear message to the country that this blatant criminality will not be tolerated, that America is better than this. Sooner or later, you have to decide to get closure on Trump's crimes, impeach him, and move on.
