Because Trumps still here, its time to roll this one out again ...

From the original posting of this on youtube ren years ago:

We're all in this together, folks.

This is a rant about the greed that permeates the American political landscape. In fact the very core of who we are as a nation and a people.

Until we re-regulate our glorious corporate overlords, our condition -the Human Condition- in this country and on this planet remains in the hands of a select group of sociopathic plutocrats that care nothing of their nation and only about their personal fortunes.

Self appointed Masters of the Universe who don't seem to realize that their gene pool has been diminished and dulled by decades of greed, avarice and a sense of entitlement.

All born on 3rd base, swearing they hit a triple.

We Were RIght. They will devour themselves.

My only hope is that the rest of us survive the feast.

And it's all still the same -- only worse.

Well said, very well said. But the hope, whatever hope there is, is very thin and fading. If the vote is stolen in 2020 -- and the chance that it won't be stolen diminishes with each day the turtle keeps the door open and the orangutan summons the bear -- that slim and fading hope will be lost forever.

with the truth that it expresses is still subversive today. The stark contrast between its message and the current mainstream of American life is still alarming and it reverberates in the collective unconscious while people look at the superficial spectacle and wonder, aghast, what's wrong.

This message is about the thousands upon thousands of skeletons, rattling in the closet--stop children, what's that sound? It is about the herd of elephants that are swept under the carpet by the Military Industrial Complex and its Ministry of Truth.

This message is the revelation of a reality beneath the finely crafted facade that is the refuge of the organization of professional predators, a simulation woven from manipulative propaganda designed to proliferate an agenda of shock and awe and vulture capitalism. The ulterior motives that fuel the manufacturing of consent work ceaselessly to maintain and expand a network of vested interests that utilize an Hegelian dialect and a well rehearsed playbook of strategies to maintain the projection of a technicolor dream of illusions that obscure the truth.

Peeling back the mask is not difficult, but it can be sickening and extremely disturbing, for what lies underneath is the antithesis to the inculcated belief system many of us are captive to, and avoiding that horror is yet another incentive to ignore it all together. Who would want to take a cruise on the River Styx? Just how uncomfortable is the truth? It can be mind blowing if you stay the course.

Now, we go back to the bromides and distractions and wanting what we don't really need because the big machines are telling us repeatedly that we do. We sink back into the churning wheel of news cycles and rest our heads on the pillow of white noise that is information overload. We go back to sleep, exhausted, and the message is swept beneath the waves of the artificial spectacle, and once again, forgotten.

What we know we can master. What we don't know, we become slaves to.

on a blog that this version is the first time it was posted on YouTube and that the poster is responsible for it. I believe it was made during W's term because that's the latest footage I can find it in.

I've looked all over for the info on this and I can't find a thing. Listening to it it kinda reminds me of one of those old companies the used to be around that would arrange and put to music people's words for songs for a fee.

I'd love to know who's this is, but I can't find any clues at all. Not in ten years.

I think this might be him: Joeyess and the Truth Lubes, a band in Overland Park, KS. I cannot find a way to contact him without a paid membership in Bandmix.

Googling the band gives up some amusing results.

She and her partner got regular jobs and raised two amazing kids. They don't dress to startle anyone and they live an ordinary middle-class lifestyle, now sliding into retirement and enjoying grandchildren.

But here's the deal:

They still believe ALL THE THINGS THEY BELIEVED back in the dirty fuckin' hippies day. And quietly, throughout their unspectacular ordinary lives, loving each other and their kids, they've lived those beliefs.

They were the "cool parents" whose house their kids' schoolmates loved to hang out at, after school. They were the "understanding adults" who helped more than one of their adolescent kids' friends get through hard times with some supportive caring and wise counsel.

They were "envelope pushers" when it was needed in their jobs. They supported craftspeople, artists, musicians, attended poetry slams, stayed in touch with creative growth as a response to cultural evils.

They took risks and made mistakes. They kept supporting, and voting for, the people they believed would bring change, peace, equity, and sustainability.

You would never know, looking at them today, that they were dirty fuckin' hippies.

But they still are.

And so am I.

And so are many of us here on DU.

And we're still right.

I'm glad this song gets trotted out on a regular basis. The reminder is usually well-timed.

assertively,
Bright
