(7,142 posts)but who stands out right now, today, as the outspoken leader of the Democratic party?
Is the biggest threat to America, timid Democrats? Before you bash me for bashing Democrats tell me, who is the leader of the Democratic party? How often have our majority leader and majority whip been in the news lately?
When was the last time that Speaker Pelosi was on TV for that matter? Chuck Schumer just went along with a Republican written only border funding bill that kneecapped Speaker Pelosi. The bill passed the Senate with only 8 no votes.
I'm waiting for one of our candidates to take the bull by the horns. Biden, Harris, and Warren have all gone after Trump, but none stands out yet. I'm just sick of the right wing propaganda that Democrats fall for, we can't shift too far to the left, bs. The issues that the talking heads call leftist are centrist to me. For fuck's sake, we can't even start impeachment against one of the most evil, vile, self-serving leaders the world has ever seen, because it might upset voters in swing states. That reason, to me is self-defeating. Take a position and follow through on it.

(14,174 posts)Firstly...there is a twitter account "Third Way"? The biggest failed strategy of the Clinton Presidency. Policy developed from their DLC, now disbanded. Which was literally made up of CEO's and business leaning Democrats. The strategy of ASSUMING ongoing grass root Democrat support, while favouring the corporate class, who were traditionally the Republican donors. It got us an initial bump, but ultimately failed, and dragged the party to the right. Failed because the GOP simply moved further to the right to reclaim their donors. Promised even greater tax cuts to the wealthy, even more arms spending, even greater cuts to social services. More God, less brown people. The billionaire corporate class had both parties dancing for their money. That double shift was also a regression for the country as a whole.
And there are still too many in powerful positions that cling to this strategy. Its the underlining reason why Pelosi and Schumer want to dampen down impeachment calls. Whatever is done, it cannot upset the apple cart. It has nothing to do with how much they love or loathe Trump himself or want him gone, which I'm sure they do. They have become reliant now on the same corporate cash that Republicans feed from.
I love how AOC cuts through the bullshit. Imagine if she were the President! I hope she runs in the next primaries, whenever that is.

The same-old, same-old won't be good enough.

I love AOC. She's a complete breath of fresh air, because she asks why, and she points out when the emperor has no clothes.
I can't mention the presidential candidates here, but can say many of them, too, are breaths of fresh air, as are all the new women elected to the House.
Do you know my entire state turned blue in '18?

that 'third way' is against it should be no surprise.
