This was in the Sixties, and JFK appointed our Postmaster, who was a local Kennedy Campaign Chairman..

Despite his political background, he took the Hatch Act very seriously. He told me the day he hired me, and as every election approached he lectured the whole office, that anyone electioneering on or off the job would be fired. he told us to vote as we pleased, but to not discuss politics with anyone.
