No way was that shooting necessary, unavoidable, or justified.

It didn't sound at all like a real gun but a cap gun, he knows it and he fucking fires anyway???? And he tries to act all normal after he just shot a child in their own backyard. Total scum!

but more important is gun use, gun (so-called) rights, and romanticism of guns is out of control and at fault... police in the Country are a result of what societal norms we have created

This is how they are trained in the police academy and by their training officer. When making an arrest shout "stop resisting" so that when you get sued witnesses will testify that you warned the subject and you are then completely justified when you break their arm.
After all you need to practice using that really cool (sarcasm) arm breaking technique you leaned in the academy! This is also why cops were shooting puppies so much - next best thing to shooting a person. Once you get your first kill you become a hero to your fellow cops.

Good lord...... an 8th grader playing with toy gun in an enclosed back yard and was shot by an tigger happy officer who did NOT identified himself as a police officer NOR give the CHILD ample time to comply to drop his TOY gun.

And the prosecutor is PROTECTING his department from civil damages. State Police should be brought in to conduct the investigation!

I moved back to where I grew up, to be near relatives. It's a different place. Formerly nice neighborhoods are rife with drug dealing, meth, murders, muggings, sexual assault, child abuse. It's hotter, too, and there's more flooding (climate change and development has interfered with the land). The air and water is dirtier.

Things change. If I can sell my house, I'm moving away again.

and is given less than a second to comply with the orders before he gets shot. This is criminal. They would have to either shoot me or restrain me from killing that cop if he did that to my kid. Of course, I'm white. In addition to it being very unlikely that I'll have have to face that reality, I have no doubt there's many people out there that would be more sympathetic to my plight instead of the non-stop chorus of, "He should have just done what he was told!" crowd that invariable pops up whenever these videos surface.
