The GOP, of course, being scum and dishonorable in all things, pick on Omar precisely because she's black, female, and muslim. But the media, all of the media, jumped on the bandwagon and there seem to be no major media voices, no MSNBC, no CNN, no CBS, ABC (like that would happen) or NBC voice that stands up for fairness and common sense in this matter. Rep. Omar said no more than many people in Washington have said, and in a milder tone than they've used, without being stigmatized as anti-semitic. She said absolutely nothing about jews or about the jewish religion or culture, nor did she even approach dog whistling. Yet the media swarmed on her like ants on honey because she was perceived as vulnerable, easy prey, and the center of a juicy political "controversy."

I'm disgusted with this whole scene, this whole nothing-burger that even many Dems want to play on for votes or to satisfy their own prejudices. I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: if the Dems don't back the hell off and let this woman do the job she was elected to do, I may seriously consider just sitting out the 2020 election. I certainly won't vote for the fascist-racist-bigoted GOP, but I doubt if I could vote for a party that eats its own and seems to think that voters like me -- and like the ones who voted for Al Franken -- just don't matter.

Omar has apologized after what I think was wise counsel from Nancy Pelosi -- apologized in order to stop the b.s. and take the red meat away from the hungry GOP. But Jerry Nadler and others seem intent on keeping the issue alive and pushing for severe (a la Steve King) punishments. I'll say it again, if the Dems do that to Omar, I'm outta here -- I'll vote down ballot for candidates who aren't so obviously anti-muslim (as I suspect is Nadler) but for president? No. Not going to do it if they don't leave her alone and expend their righteous energies calling out the Nazis in the GOP and the White House.

And others are free to voice their feelings about what she has said on different occasions...and why she said them.

The media isn't one voice. America isn't one voice.

The freshmen should listen more than they speak, IMO. As Judge Judy says, you have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Omar is making some big freshmen mistakes. She can't take back what she's said. Now everyone has an opinion of her, one way or the other, based on her statements.
