2. Ad for the Wall

Why is there an ad on the home page of DU promoting the "wall"? There is a website in the footer: action.donaldjtrump.com and in large letters it says "Tell Congress to Build the Wall". I find this ad offensive.

7. Sure, if everyone here ponied up money to run the site there would be no need

Another fix is just to pony up some money yourself so you no longer see the ads. That's what I do.

9. Why not?

Because whether or not you like it, the ads that pop up on your screen help support this site regardless of the message they send.

The only way you can refrain from either directly or indirectly support this site financially is to boycott it entirely.

10. Well what i was repsonding to was a statement that du has no control over which ads get posted

To that i replied they can stop putting on ads . The point was they do have some control. It was then suggested to me that i donate cash to get rid of the ads and to that i said not til the jury system is changed or management becomes more repsonsive in regards to overturning b.s. hides . I have no problems with the ads

It seems like BS to not want to pony up money to keep the lights on and complain about the alternative that keeps the lights on.

Ads are served based, in part, on page content. There is no advance screening. However, the admins can (and d0) block ads that are offensive once the admins become becoms aware or them. I had several ads leading up to the midterms blocked because they were offensive (anti-Sherrod Brown ads,for example)

5. Of course there are HUGE engineering problems with the wall

That could generate cost over-runs that we can scarcely imagine. But the big elephant in the room when it comes to illegal immigration is the fact that undocumented immigrants are necessary to do jobs that are too strenuous, too risky, etc..., that gringos and US citizens won't do. Nobody is talking about that. This wall is nothing more than a bottomless money pit that Trump wants to scam (and believe me, he is dead set on scamming it for all it's worth) and a political football that Trump can exploit to exacerbate political tensions and divisions in this country - which is the first and most important item on Putin's job description for his puppet. The whole illegal immigration issue / situation is one in which certain practical realities, such as the engineering logistics an problems of wall construction, as well as the necessity for cheap illegal immigrant labor to do the jobs that citizens won't do, prevent us from ever finding an ideal, perfect solution to the problem.
