(206,093 posts)This show wasn't as humorous as some - but these aren't humorous times - and the funniest part was New Rules!

(63,221 posts)Interesting Show. Omarosa wasn't as bad as I thought she would be. I liked Rebecca Traister & Eddie Glaude, even Steve Kornacki was interesting. Reihan Salam wasn't as bad as I thought he would be for a conservative, although this is the guy who though that childless people should have to pay higher taxes to subsidize families with children (grrrr, don't get me started on that!).
Anyway, New Rules was funny, but not one of the best I have seen. However it was an entertaining, spirited show. Thanks again for posting!

(206,093 posts)I wasn't looking forward to Omarosa, but she was more likable than I anticipated. And I liked what Bill had to say to/about Steve Kornacki. I know he's not always been popular here, but he's not a pundit, he's the "numbers guy," and that's what he's interested in and good at!
And I agree that this wasn't the funniest show, but these are not exactly humorous times. New Rules was the most amusing part - he didn't even take time out from the political discussion for his usual funny/joke segment.

(2,574 posts)Funny monologue from that early joke to the final close re:Kanye""Finally we found someone who can make Trump STFU."
Bill seemed kinda down tonight tho. Maybe discouraged, thinking that we're not going to win the Senate as he'd so hoped and contributed to.
Or maybe just temporary Trump Atrocity Fatigue; after all Bill's been fighting Trump on tv and even in court way longer than most of us.

(206,093 posts)For his orangutan joke of all things. Any president we've ever had - including Obama - has been the butt of jokes, it's just what happens when taking on such a public life, something that Trump just doesn't have the temperament for, among countless other deplorable qualities. So I think you're right, this has just gone on for so long and been so relentless every day that we're all getting fatigued.

(206,093 posts)I had the opportunity to be in his studio audience back in 2008 and he was not a disappointment (though the guest was Dr. Phil, LOL). He not only came out - with Paul - and answered audience questions before the show, but he also came out afterwards, even after 30 years of doing this, just to thank us for coming.

(2,574 posts)My biggest regret is not seeing Elvis live and 2nd biggest is not going to a Letterman taping. That's such a lovely memory you have of him (and Paul ) too.

(206,093 posts)The only criticism I had was that it was freezing in the studio! Granted, it was January, but the staff was wearing parkas and sweaters - inside - while Dave took his jacket off whenever the camera wasn't on him!

(2,574 posts)since you saw him still taking his jacket off whenever he could.
I feel like you might have just solved the Letterman thermostat mystery!

(206,093 posts)Let alone his sense of humor about all this - but then I wonder the same thing about us, it's sure gotten wearying.
