(3,425 posts)However, the elaborate days" long public celebration of his life did not bother with any negative facts about his life. That would have not allowed for the endless hours of viewing all the good things he had done, and there were also many of them. It was also a show of public brain washing and a poke in the eye of Trump.
Sadly the only balance in today"s "free press" comes from people like Any Goodman.
Thank you for the link.

disgusted with that comment as well?

(3,487 posts)Man, the way DUers were wailing and gnashing their teeth at his death, I can't imagine the heights that will be reached when Bush and Cheney meet their maker.
I don't get it.

(3,487 posts)...that helped the little guy.
Don't give me his "thumbs down" on the health care vote, that was 100% his way of getting revenge for tRump's "I like people who weren't captured", nothing else.
For cripes sake, this guy FILIBUSTERED against raising the minimum wage from $5.15, and totally opposed the minimum wage for ANYONE.
Why were progressives weeping for him?????

(4,642 posts)when negative statements about Mccain were posted in the farewell to the king threads. I respect his service, mainly before his political days, but it went on, and on, and on, started before he passed.

(2,437 posts)He lived off of that accomplishment for 8 years before Citizens United blew it up. Even though it was his signature legislative accomplishment,in true McCain fashion,he shrugged his shoulders and got in line when it was blown up.
John McCain was a maverick with his words but a right-wing sycophant with his vote.

(6,133 posts)It seemed he had scruples earlier in his career, but politics became more important even after the 2004 South Carolina hit job on him by Rove. It was on his adopted daughter, during the primaries.
So I watched McCain speak at the 2004 Republican Convention go after Michael Moore who was there. The Republicans love to hate, so McCain got them on his side. He ended up by embracing Bush, even after what they did to his family. McCain had lost respect from me then. The angry guy was willing to do anything to keep Republicans elected.
He ran in 2008 and I thought he had the best chance to win out of the clowns. I thought if he picked Joe Lieberman as his running mate that we could be in trouble. Wasnt it during that race he did a commercial saying something like, Build this damn wall. He didnt believe it. He had lost his scruples. He would do anything to win, and thank God he picked Sarah.
So maybe the thumbs down vote was good. It was good. People die without health insurance and it may be the greatest vote of his life.
I have thought that the reason that Obama took up up healthcare was a moral reason. I think of him as a good person who saw probably the biggest crisis here, and went through this exhaustive solution to it. McCain gave the thumbs down vote.

(22,877 posts)Even the media is expected to show that kind of respect on such an occasion. but after some time has passed, it is time to fill in the gaps and set the record straight for posterity. McCain was often a childishly enthusiastic war hawk, devoid of compassion for the downtrodden and disadvantaged people in our society.
