On Monday a source close to the singer spoke to the Associated Press to confirm that Franklin is “seriously ill,” although they did not provide any additional details about the singer’s illness. “I am so saddened to report that the Queen of Soul and my good friend, Aretha Franklin is gravely ill,” wrote Detroit news anchor Evrod Cassimy. “I spoke with her family members this evening. She is asking for your prayers at this time.” He revealed Tuesday that Franklin is alert and speaking, tweeting, “Just got a chance to speak to Aretha Franklin. I'm so sorry if her life is ending this soon but very glad she is alert and able to communicate with her family and friends. I'd wish that for everyone if I could.

We saw her in a terrific concert in DC and in the parking lot afterwards, we glanced and saw the Queen of Soul entering her limo smiling to fans, gorgeous and regal in a smashing white coat and outfit.
