After one too many layoffs, I started my own business about ten years ago...best thing I ever did. No more humiliation of having to summarize my life in two or three pages so someone can accept or reject me like an apple in a supermarket.

I'm reminded of a character called Joe Banks in a fairly forgettable Tom Hanks/John Patrick Shanley film from the eighties and the freedom he gained by quitting his soul-killing job.

I struggle and juggle with home gigs too, but the freedom can't be beat.

I will check out the film. Comedy or satire, Tom Hanks is very good.
