...he'll venture into this territory now and then, but he's not there as frequently as Shep.

Every time I post a Shep Smith video clip, at least one DUer responds "Why haven't they fired him yet?" A valid question, he definitely doesn't read from Rupert's script.

The Fox Big wigs know Shep Smith is a draw. That is why they just gave Shep a huge contract renewal.

For the same reason MSNBC and CNN have people like Jack Kingston, Hugh Hewitt and others on.
Controversial.

They know people watch Shep who would not be caught dead listening to Hannity, Carlson or Lou Dobbs.
