The idea that this president is a hateful and angry person--something that couldn't be farther from the truth: he is a man of exceptional, one might even say excessive tolerance and generosity; or that my city of Chicago is a place where anger and hate come to rest, also a complete upside-down characterization. This is a city where people of all stripes come together, more than any place I've ever lived. Black, white, Hispanic, Polish ... we all ride the same buses here and shop in the same stores. We all go to Grant Park to sit under the stars and listen to the same music together. This is a beautiful, diverse, theater and art and music loving city that embraces all.
