Trump responds to Cohen raid: "It's an attack on our country, in a true sense."

1. Does anyone have a clue about how this is "an attack on our country"?

Every commentator I have heard today has talked about how incredibly hard it is to get a search warrant for an attorney's office. So, Mueller (a Republican) notified the AG of the Southern District of NY (a Republican appointee), who had to go before a Federal Judge and clear an extremely high hurdle to convince the judge to issue a warrant.

Napolitano then detailed what the FBI would have gone through to secure warrant to raid Cohen’s home and business.

“There must be some evidence presented to a federal judge here in New York City sufficient to persuade that judge to sign a search warrant to permit the FBI, in broad daylight, to raid an attorney’s office—particularly when that attorney has one client and it happens to be the president of the United States,” Napolitano said.

“That evidence would have to be such as to persuade a neutral observer, the federal judge, that it is more likely than not that among these seized documents is evidence of crimes by Mr. Cohen or Mr. Cohen and the president,” he added.

17. Trump Sounds A Bit Defensive/Desperate To Me

He is just using stock phrases ("witch hunt", etc). I think that the Con Man is starting to realize that his lies and corruption are catching up to him. He should have stayed home and never ran for the Presidency. Can a sitting President be charged with Crimes? His days are numbered. I have no sympathy for him, the way he treats other people, he gets what he deserves. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the sociopathic Presidency of Trump.

Another thing- if he tries to fire Mueller, it will backfire and become an Obstruction Charge. With this raid on Cohen's Trump Tower Office, an entirely separate part of the Justice Department is involved. This Investigation has expanded beyond the Special Counsel's Office. If Trump tries to shut down Mueller, the rest of the Justice Department will pick up the ball and complete the Investigation. There really is no way out for Donnie. He should think about resigning. I bet that he is wondering if he can pardon himself.

I think that Trump might be realizing he is in hot water. He looks a little uncomfortable in this video to me. He sounds like he might choke.

I think that the biggest mistake of Trump's life was running for the Presidency. Trump could have stayed ensconced in his New York City luxury life. Instead, his colossal ego compelled him to stain our Nation by running for and attaining the Presidency. Now he is under a microscope and his lifetime of shady deals and cons is likely going to unravel. I suspect the Feds who raided Cohen's Office may have a treasure trove of incriminating evidence against Trump. Cohen has been Trump's lawyer and lackey for years.

Trump is an awful person who brought this down on his own head, with hubris, stupidity, and arrogance. The most important qualities of a President includes character, stability, morality, and intelligence. This is why Trump is the worst President in history. He has none of those qualities.

That is also why Obama was one of the best Presidents. He had these qualities in spades, and went eight years with no real scandals, not even the scent of one. Trump on the other hand has a fresh scandal every other day. I think that Trump is going down. I am glad that he has basically destroyed his own life by becoming President. I really wish that he had never run though. He needs to be thrown out of office so that America can recover from his sociopathic Presidency.
