It's like they rewound her tape, put in new batteries, turned the switch on and pushed her out onto that stage.

(2,212 posts)You don't push your shoulders down like she did if you're simply looking up to think. Watch the video again, please. Then try the expression yourself, looking up to the right while pushing your shoulders down. Your own body will tell you exactly what she was doing. It wasn't thinking.

(14,174 posts)Those that retained their desire for fiscal responsibility, and a strong armed forces, family etc etc. (whether or not they actually carried through with these goals)...but also were more socially liberal in regards to things like marriage equality, LGBTQ rights as well as gun control.
I first thought she may be a good force for the Republicans after Bush Jr. and KKKarl Rove sent out smears about McCain secretly adopting a black baby. And other CT about his wife being hooked on drugs. At the time McCain still had his "maverick" position and was considered a more moderate politician who would 'do the right thing' over his own party. This was just about the time we first saw her on TV. After Bush won, I thought she'd be more of a force against the more extreme elements of her party. Even switch to Democrat. but more than likely I thought she'd develop into more of a person like Ana Navaro, someone who would keep her Republican credentials, but be a moderate sane voice for the party. But now she's friends with Dana Loesch and in on the full jacket propaganda machine for the NRA. Sad

(8,287 posts)Meghan drooled all over her and it was gross. Meghan said a couple of times "I love you Cupp". Barf.
I had the same hopes for Meghan that you had and she's totally lost me now. Every day she's on, she grates on my nerves more and more. I started watching the view a couple of months before Meghan joined in and I had high hopes she would be a good addition.
That's a big nope.
but Whoopie gets on my nerves too.

(3,515 posts)and the Second Amendment that guarantees the right to possess weapons.
People who interpret the Second Amendment to prohibit the government from regulating the rights of gun owners criticize the FBI because it did not adequately regulate the right of a person who was exercising his First Amendment right (and here I am interpreting the First Amendment as literally and absolutely as the gun rights advocates interpret the Second Amendment) to threaten others on the internet and perhaps in person.
If the FBI should have regulated the First Amendment right of the shooter when he threatened to kill (and I think local child protection authorities should have helped and stopped this young man many years before the events in the school), why can't they regulate the Second Amendment rights of all of us and outlaw the possession of these unnecessary, brutal killer weapons -- including AR-15 and all similar weapons?
Why can the First Amendment rights be subject to reasonable regulation, but the Second Amendment rights can't?
That makes no sense to me.

(3,515 posts)"schools" No guns in schools.
The Los Angeles courthouse examines every package carried in the front door because there was a shooting back in maybe 1996 (if I remember the year correctly) in which a husband involved in a divorce case shot and killed people. I don't remember the facts that well, but I was in the building when it happened.
The expense of checking every schoolbag entering every school in America would be prohibitive. It costs enough to examine boxes and bags taken into the courthouse here.
The NRA and the Republicans are fighting against the reality that the military weapons of today are not the weapons that the Second Amendment is referring to.
The idea that ordinary citizens will safeguard our nation with their automatic weapons is absurd. They cannot ward off helicopters, long-range missiles, armed drones, etc. with their measly weapons. Not going to happen.
The answer is that we as citizens have to elect responsible men and women to public office and then watch what they do and what laws they pass.
The internet and all the information we can obtain from it is much better at protecting our rights and our Constitution than are AR-15s. Information is far better than guns in our society.
