(6,344 posts)I like hearing this spoken so clearly on national TV. He spells it out well, which educates people.
We must keep the pressure on. No letting up. By keeping this front and center in republicans face, we can affect change even with them in the (temporary) majority.

See if you can find youtube videos. Incredibly powerful. IIRC some GOPers expressed anger at his influence.

(5,106 posts)If you feel you need protection or maybe just want to target practice: OK, you're allowed hand guns.. If you like to hunt--OK, you can have as many rifles and shotguns as you feel you need. But you need a military assault weapon-WTF? From all indications, not those who actually have used them in warfare; just wannabe tough guys want them. Best compromise? Let licensed and certified gun range owners (or whatever they're called), keep a few assault weapons to let customers come in and have a "thrill"shooting them. Why else would anyone want to fire an assault weapon for any good purpose? I've never understood the tenaciousness of the N.R.A. and their questionable members ( who else would normally want want to own an assault weapon) to allow such availability. In full disclosure, I used to be pretty good on targets, at firing a handgun (revolver,) and also a rifle, due to an ex-husband who was a gun enthusiast. I wasn't previously aware that an eighteen year old can buy any weapon he/she wants, just not buy a beer.
