1. I don't understand. Is the car inside the rocket or is outside

orbiting on its own?

2. As I understand it, it was put into a cargo pod on the top of the heavy lifter rocket...

Once it had completed its flight, the pod broke away and the car on a stand is now headed to the asteroid belt.

The camera is on a long selfie stick and is, I think, able to be controlled.

4. The Starman videos

are just mesmerizing to me. I'm hoping to see something fabulous and unexpected on the online live feed. You just never know!

5. I wonder how long...

it's going to last. Outer space may look quiet and boring, but it's actually a hotbed of unkind intentions of microscopic particles, radiation and even a bunch of very large rocks. He does look pretty cool in that driver's seat, though.

7. According to some, the Tesla Roadster will quickly degrade.

Much of it is made of plastic and cloth and stuff like that. Those degrade in outer space environ.

And yup! Starman is ultra cool. At least for a while. Plus, he has a towel and a "Don't Panic" sign to help him on his way. Those, plus a copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in the glove box.

Don't look up "Vogon Constructor Fleet" whatever you do.

6. On the way to the asteroid belt.

The second stage burn kind of overshot the Mars transfer orbit.

Musk seemed pleased, as well he should have.

This launch went as good or better as could have been expected.

The double side booster landings back at the Cape were, as Phil Plait said, a ballet.
