Don't remember him singing, but could be wrong. He was a solid drummer, and the 1st Edition was a well-gelled band, it always seemed to me. I appreciated them as a kid, and thought Kenny becoming mega-famous messed up a good trajectory for that band...
Kenny Rogers did use a gravelly voice at times, yes. Or smoky. Or sad and raspy (Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town), one of the saddest songs ever...
