As s former intelligence officer I can assure you that every asset/informant is biased.

Consider that the informant is someone Who is accepting payment or other remuneration for information about people or organizations he works for.

So there is a violation of trust and payment for that violation of trust.

None of that is shocking and none of that should disqualify the information that the informant provides.

Every source is vetted. Is the source who he claims to be? Should he have access to the information he claims to have access to? Is the information consistent with information from other sources, and can it be confirmed from other sources?

That’s the short version, of course. But if the answer to all those questions is yes, then it doesn’t matter if the source is being paid $100 or $160,000. And so it doesn’t matter whether this source is a Republican or Democrat, or a disgruntled Jihadi, or a treasonous foreign-policy adviser.
